Your Barrel Care:
We recommend displaying your barrel head indoors to prevent weather aging. If using outdoors, keep in a shaded area. You may also wish to apply tung oil a couple of times per year to brighten the wood grain.
The Story Behind Your Wine Barrel Head:
THESE RECLAIMED CALIFORNIA WINE BARREL HEADS ARE THE REAL DEAL. Each authentic wine barrel is originally handcrafted by a master cooper using the finest American, Hungarian or French Oak. After arriving at a California winery, it is filled with multiple vintages of wine varieties (Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay) over the course of 5-10 years. Once the oak flavor is completely extracted, these retired wine barrels are purchased by Midwest Barrel Company. Because barrel building is a custom process, no two heads will ever be the same. Expect variations in size, wood grain, engraving finish and winery/cooperage markings. The unique character of each barrel produces a one of a kind creation sure to be a memorable gift and be the talk of any home or event.

After thorough inspection, we provide expert care to remove the top/lid of your barrel. We then lightly sand and stain the wood to retain the original character. Once your design proof is approved, we engrave and add a light coat of polyurethane. These come ready to display with a hanging kit included.
